Ryuuou no Oshigoto! (The Ryuo’s Work is Never Done!) anime ini bercerita tentang Kuzuryuu Yaichi yaitu seorang anak laki-laki yang mendapat kan sebuah gelar tertinggi dalam dunia shogi di usia nya yang masih sangat muda . Di usia yang sangat belia tersebut dia menyandang gelar “Ryuou” (Raja Naga) , bukan lah sebuah prestasi yang mudah untuk di capai pada usia semuda itu .
Dan satu tahun setelah dia memiliki gelar Ryuou , datang seorang anak SD yang bernama Hinatsuru Ai kedalam apartement nya . Dan dirinya mengukit kejadian satu tahun yang lalu kalau Yaichi pernah berjanji akan mengajarkan dia shogi kalau Yaichi mendapatkan gelar Ryuou . Pertama Yaichimenolak permintaan tersebut tapi ketika dia mencoba bertanding melawan Ai , Yaichi melihat bakat yang ada di dalam tubuh Ai . Dan pada akhir nya sebuah ikatan Guru – Murid pun tercipta pada hari itu . Apakah Ai bisa mewujudkan cita-cita untuk menjadi Istri pemain shohi hebat seperti Yaichi ?
