Ingress the Animation sebuah proyek rahasia telah diluncurkan di mana para ilmuwan menemukan zat misterius yang dapat berinteraksi langsung dengan otak manusia . Zat ini yang disebut “Exotic Matter (XM)” , telah ada sejak zaman kuno dan memengaruhi pikiran manusia serta kemajuan umat manusia . Akibat penemuan ini , pertempuran antara negara-negara kuat dan perusahaan raksasa telah di mulai .
Organisasi di seluruh dunia mulai berlomba untuk mempelajari XM lebih dalam lagi . Ini merupakan peluang sekaligus ancaman bagi kemanusiaan .
