Ghost Hunt cerita berpusat pada Taniyama Mai yang pada saat itu dia dan teman-teman sekelas nya sedang cerita hantu . Yang katanya di sekolahnya terdapat sebuah gedung tua yang tidak terpakai dan di gedung tersebut banyak sekali hantu nya . Selama ceritanya , mereka diganggu oleh sosok pria misterius . Orang tersebut ternyata adalah Shibuya Kazuya , seorang anak berusia 17 tahun yang merupakan pemimpin dari Shibuya Psychic Research Company . Dia di utus oleh kepala sekolah untuk menyelidiki gedung sekolah yang sudah tidak di pakai lagi.
Keesokan harinya , dalam perjalanan ke sekolah , Mai melewati gedung sekolah tua tersebut karena penasaran dengan gosip yang ada dirinya pun berniat masuk kedalam gedung tersebut dan membawa kamera untuk meliput gejadian yang ada di dalam . Tapi tak disangka dirinya bertemu dengan Assisten Kazuya , dan Assistennya Kazuya melakukan penyerangan yang mengakibatkan kamera milik Mai rusak dan Assisten Kazuya terluka .
